"You need to really understand that impact investing is a need."
How to stay relevant in the future as a business to employees, talent, and customers? According to Tharald Nustad, a tech entrepreneur and investor from Norway, you need to understand the leverage of impact investing, but also why there is a need for it. A very successful way of educating and mobilizing people around impact investing and exponential tech is the Katapult Future Fest in Oslo, which was co-founded by Tharald Nustad. Because of the coronavirus crisis, it will go virtual this year as Katapult Cloud.
Katapult Future Fest is a non-profit movement founded to drive positive societal change through technology and impact investing. The festival challenges investors, startups, and thought-leaders to collaborate and take action towards reaching and surpassing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
United in their shared goal to contribute to a transformation of our economic and financial systems, the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt is collaborating with Katapult - not only as a partner for Katapult Cloud. To enable sustainable finance and impact investing and mobilize impact capital at scale, the BMW Foundation, together with its network partners Toniic, Nexus, the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth, and Katapult, created the “Coalition for Impact,” which was launched during the Katapult Future Fest in Oslo in May 2019.
RESPOND Accelerator at Katapult Cloud
Katapult Cloud 2020 will be the initial gathering of the first cohort of the BMW Foundation Accelerator program RESPOND, which is supported by UnternehmerTUM. We aim to empower founders to build sustainable impact-driven businesses and infuse a mindset of Responsible Leadership into the startup community. Through RESPOND, we provide financial and non-financial support to founders and entrepreneurs during their journey towards a more peaceful, just, and sustainable future in line with the UN 2030 Agenda.
The Coalition for Impact is designed to shift trillions of capital in service of people and planet. The UN estimates that the gap to implement the global goals ranges from US $3 trillion to US $5 trillion annually. The BMW Foundation is making this impact journey together with its Responsible Leaders community and all the other vibrant networks of our coalition partners, in order to make impact investing an accessible concept for all, thus contributing to financial systems change.
Tharald Nustad is a member of the global BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network.
